Vidalia Onion Festival

Each spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia’s Official State Vegetable, the internationally known, Vidalia Sweet Onion. Since 1978, we have celebrated this special occasion with an array of fun-filled events.

The festival in 2011 will mark our 34^th year! The festival lasts an entire weekend and normally kicks off with the opening ceremonies on Thursday night, featuring a themed children’s parade and several special performances.

On Saturday and Sunday enjoy the arts and crafts festival or attend the air show, for a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of the Canadian Snowbirds Demonstration Team! Don’t forget to catch the Vidalia Sweet Onion cook-off and our Georgia folk-life play, “Tales from the Altamaha”.
